ANBC participated today in the Symposium "Economic Freedom: Paths for Brazil's Future", The event, held in Brasilia, was attended by members of the legislature, the private sector and the economic ecosystem. ANBC's president, Elias Sfeir, took part in Panel 4: The determinants of the cost of credit in Brazil. Also taking part were Senator Efraim Filho; FEBRABAN's chief economist, Rubens Sardenberg; and the chief executive of ABIOVE - the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries, Andre M Nassar.
The role of credit as a driver of the economy and the importance of credit sustainability were put into context.
Harmful practices that have a negative impact on credit were also highlighted.

“Credit discipline is evolving in Brazil. A very well constructed instrument was the Cadastro Positivo (Positive Registry), through the mobilization of various economic sectors, which currently has 160 million unique records. Of these, 15 million previously unseen individuals and companies now have visibility for credit. We still have room for credit to grow, with a cultural shift underway from considering only negative information to looking at the negative as well as the positive history,” said Sfeir.
The need for a broad and in-depth discussion on artificial intelligence was pointed out, so that technology can bring advances to credit discipline.

Our thanks to the organization for the quality of the debates and to Senator Efraim, who stressed the importance of legal certainty for strengthening credit.
