Initiative consolidates itself as a consumer right and an advance in credit discipline

Since July 2019, under the automatic adhesion model, the Positive Registry is in its third year of operation, favoring 22.1 million Brazilians with access to credit and registering a national average penetration rate of 79% among the economically active population. And this number is set to increase as new sectors such as energy, sanitation and gas, with the potential to include almost 140 million newcomers, complete the submission of their customers' information to the Cadastro Positivo database.

The sharing of customer information in the telecommunications sector alone, for example, has made it possible to include 12.6 million individuals and companies in the database. The figures were released yesterday by Elias Sfeir, president of the National Association of Credit Bureaus (ANBC), at an event celebrating the initiative's anniversary in Brasilia.

The ceremony, which was attended by the presidents of the credit bureaus that manage the Cadastro Positivo database (Boa Vista, Quod, Serasa, SPC and TransUnion), had the institutional support of ABAC, ABRAFESC, Acrefi, ANFAC, CNDL, CNI, Conexis, Febraban and SINFAC-SP.

"The Positive Registry has been consolidated as a consumer right. One confirmation of this is that seven out of 10 consumers say they have a positive perception of the Positive Register," said the president of ANBC.

Also according to the data presented by the organization, 94% of large companies are on the Positive Register, while the rate for medium and small companies is 62% and 65%, respectively. Among micro-enterprises, the index corresponds to 42%, and MEIs, 13%.
