Sanitation sector joins the Positive Registry, with the potential to add 50 million records

After the successful inclusion of financial institutions, telecommunications and electricity utilities, the segment is the new frontier of the Positive Registry

São Paulo, October 18, 2023: Developing at an accelerated pace since its implementation, the Cadastro Positivo (Positive Registry) is beginning its fourth stage, collecting data from consumers of sanitation companies. According to National Association of Credit Bureaus (ANBC), This sector can add approximately 50 million records to the database.

The main objective of the Positive Register is to help assess risk when granting credit by means of positive information. This registry allows lenders to have a more detailed view of the payment history of applicants - whether individual or corporate - making it possible to offer credit conditions that are more appropriate to each profile. The inclusion of information from various sectors, such as telecommunications and public services, broadens credit visibility and promotes financial inclusion. In this context, the integration of the sanitation sector is strategic for expanding the benefits of credit to its clients and the municipalities it serves.

To involve sanitation companies, ANBC, the representative of the credit bureaus responsible for the Cadastro Positivo, is promoting a series of initiatives with concessionaires, associations and governments The association has visited the states, holding meetings with government representatives and representatives from the legal, financial and technology areas of companies in the sector, to explain the program and its benefits. In addition, the association supported the National Sanitation and Environment Fair - Fenasan, the segment's main event in Latin America, held in São Paulo.

Elias Sfeir, president of ANBC, analyzes: “Given its broad scope, the sector has the potential to expand access to credit, reduce defaults and promote the financial inclusion of its consumers.”.

Sfeir adds: “Our mission has been to highlight how this integration can boost the local economy, regional development and social well-being. For companies, joining the Positive Registry can, among other benefits, promote their image and improve their ESG indicator by increasing their S score.”.
