How will consumers benefit from the new Positive Register?

The Positive Register is a consumer right. They should be guaranteed the best credit rating, which only happens if the positive data is also shared with the market, not just the negative data.

The only way to guarantee the exercise of this right is to adopt the “opt-out” model, i.e. the automatic inclusion of consumers with the right to leave. This same consumer who has left can return at any time upon request.

The main benefit to be brought about by the change in the Positive data is in the speed with which consumers sign up. In the more than six years that the current model has been in force, only 5% of the economically active population have joined the Positive Register.

See below the six benefits that will be available to consumers.

1) Consumers with a good track record will be able to access credit at lower interest rates;

2) Consumers with a good track record, but who have been in default, will also be assessed for the bills they have paid, and not just for the bills that have not been honored;

3) A consumer who has never applied for credit but has paid his bills correctly, if he needs credit today, may be denied for lack of information. With the proposed change, this same consumer will enjoy a positive track record and will possibly have their application granted;

4) Consumers who do not have proof of formal income, such as self-employed professionals, will be able to obtain credit thanks to their Positive Register;

5) The consumer is strengthened to negotiate more favorable credit conditions through the score;

6) Consumers are in better control of their budgets through centralized access to their debts, which prevents over-indebtedness.
