Electricity sector enables 6 million customers to gain visibility for credit through the Positive Registry Program
90% of electricity consumers have already joined the Positive Registry, says ANBC
Responsible for the third stage of implementation of the Positive Registry, the electricity sector has already entered 90% of its consumers into the program's database, equivalent to 65 million records of individuals and companies. According to the National Association of Credit Bureaus (ANBC), the sector has the potential to add 75 million records to the Positive Registry.
The electricity sector has made it possible to include around 6 million customers (PF and PJ) who were not included in the information initially sent by the financial and telecommunications institutions, which responded to the first and second stages of implementation.
Added to the inclusion of the 15 million records originating from telecommunications companies, the Positive Register has already made it possible for a contingent of 21 million consumers to become visible for credit.
The Positive Registry (Law 12.414 as amended by Complementary Law 166 of 8/04/2019), which is about to come into force for five years, aims to help assess risk when granting credit by providing positive information. In this way, lenders can have a clearer view of the financial behavior of individuals and companies applying for credit, enabling them to offer credit conditions that are more appropriate to each profile.
“Thanks to its capillarity, the electricity sector is strategic for developing the credit visibility of Brazilians. For this reason, ANBC continues to work on an extensive agenda of actions with the aim of engaging and supporting all segments in adhering to the law and extending the benefits of the Positive Registry,” says Elias Sfeir, the association's president.
Currently with 167 million unique records in its database, after the successful inclusion of information received from financial institutions, telecommunications and electricity concessionaires, the Cadastro Positivo is now in its fourth phase, referring to the entry of sanitation companies, with the potential to include up to 55 million records.
