Survey shows that women and men are equally concerned about these issues

São Paulo, July 28, 2021: A survey conducted by the National Association of Credit Bureaus (ANBC) reveals that budget control is a habit for most Brazilians. Of the women surveyed, 78% usually do so, a percentage close to that of men, with 79%.

The survey also shows the relevance of the credit score for the respondents. Of the 591,000,000 women who know what a credit score is, no less than 841,000,000 consider this knowledge to be important or very important for their financial life. Among men, of the 661,000,000 who know what a credit score is, 821,000,000 consider it important or very important.

Among the age groups, the negative highlight is the over-60s group - only 491,000,000 people know what a credit note is. This index reaches 61% in the 46 to 59 age group, rises to 67% among 36 to 45 year olds and stands at 64% in the 24 to 35 year old group.

The low awareness of the credit score among respondents over 60 may be the result of a lack of familiarity with this resource, since the Cadastro Positivo, the database for calculating the credit score, only gained strength in 2019, when the automatic inclusion of consumers and companies began.

Other factors that may be reflected in the low knowledge of the credit score among respondents over 60 are low financial education and possible difficulty in dealing with online platforms, where access to the credit score and financial education initiatives are available.

"The credit score is one of the most important aspects for exercising financial citizenship. Knowledge of the credit score encourages financial education and empowers the consumer in credit transactions," says Elias Sfeir, president of ANBC.

The survey, which was carried out in April and will be updated quarterly, aims to assess Brazilians' interest in financial education, their knowledge of credit scores and how important they consider this indicator to be for their financial lives.

Methodology

Quantitative survey carried out using an online questionnaire between April 1st and 12th. The sample consisted of 1,015 respondents and, in order to read the general data, it is necessary to consider a 95% degree of confidence and a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
