Initiative allows telecom customers to also have their information included in the register
Brasília, 17/07/20 - Telecommunications operators became part of the Positive data. As a result, customers of telecom services (cell phones, internet, telephony and pay TV) will be able to include this data in their Cadastro Positivo history, making it easier to obtain fairer credit with less bureaucracy for those who pay their bills regularly.
The telecom sector's adhesion will be formalized today through a memorandum of understanding signed between the executive president of SindiTelebrasil, Marcos Ferrari, representing the operators, and the president of the National Association of Credit Bureaus (ANBC), Elias Sfeir.
Telecommunications companies will be the first, after financial institutions, to share this information with the credit bureaus that operate the Positive Registry (Boa Vista, Quod, Serasa and SPC), and the process is expected to begin at the end of September. The entry of the telecom segment into the database tends to promote the inclusion of many Brazilians who don't have a bank account, and are outside the credit market due to a lack of information for evaluation, as well as being an advance for credit analysis tools.
“The capillarity of the telecom, This initiative, which is present in all strata of society, allows us to contribute to making life easier for Brazilians, especially those who have a history of being good payers,” said Ferrari, pointing out that the telecom sector currently has around 200 million post-paid accesses, considering all services.
“The credit score, calculated by the bureau based on the data sent by the sources, is the result of an analysis of payment habits and the relationship of companies and consumers with the market. The more information that reaches the Cadastro Positivo database, the more benefits for creditors, borrowers, the economy and social welfare,” he said Elias Sfeir, President of the National Association of Credit Bureaus (ANBC).
"It's very difficult to find a credit market that works properly without a history of information about borrowers shared with all potential creditors. The Positive Registry brings secure information sharing, which, according to international experience, will make interest rates fall," said João Manoel Pinho de Mello, the director of Organization of the Financial System and Resolution at the Central Bank (BC).
”Sharing this information will help those people who don't have access to credit. Thousands of people in Brazil are still unbanked, but pay their phone bills on time. This information, by being included in the registers, helps to reduce the asymmetry of information and allows for the universalization of the granting of credit in a balanced and quality manner,” commented the Central Bank's Director of Regulation, Otávio Damaso.
According to SindiTelebrasil, The process of sending the data to the credit bureaus has been designed to guarantee the security of the process in all its stages, as well as the correct interpretation of the information, benefiting consumers who will now be able to count on this data in their Positive Register histories. It is estimated that this new information will be available in the Cadastro Positivo within 90 days.
