New Positive Register respects consumers' wishes and protects their information
As has been widely reported in recent days, the bill to make it automatic for consumers to join the Positive Register has been approved by the Senate. The text now goes to the Chamber of Deputies for consideration.
The new Positive Registry, which is due to be assessed by the Chamber of Deputies, will boost the Brazilian economy. I've covered this subject in previous articles. According to the Serasa study, 22 million people are expected to enter the credit market, which will naturally generate wealth for the country, boosting GDP growth.
Recently, on social media, Finance Minister Henrique Meirelles said that the change to the Positive Registry could result in lower interest rates for consumers. “The new Positive Registry will allow every person or company that has paid their bills on time to have access to cheaper credit,” said Meirelles. “As the new register is implemented, the interest rates charged to companies and consumers will fall,” added the minister.
It's worth noting that the benefits to the economy offered by Bill 212/2017 are not at odds with the Consumer Protection Code. Quite the opposite: the Positive Register for all meets all the requirements of the CDC. Consumers can request the cancellation of their registration.
It is also worth noting that Bill 212/2017 guarantees the protection of the data consulted that concerns the consumer once the consumer authorizes the opening of the data to the consultant. The text of the law also establishes that consumers can access their Positive Record at any time in the database, which will also be available on the internet.
The Consumer Protection Code establishes the appropriate procedure for any errors that cause damage to the consumer, and there is no question as to its effectiveness.
