First phase of Desenrola registers a reduction of around 7.5 million negatives, says ANBC

The program began on July 17 with the deregistration of debts of up to R$ 100 and renegotiation for individuals with an income of up to R$ 20 thousand.

On July 17, the date on which the Unwind program, As of July 28th, the financial institutions participating in the program had removed around 7.5 million negative entries with values of up to R$ 100.00 from credit protection records. The data comes from National Association of Credit Bureaus and refer to the period from July 17 to 31.

According to the organization, the volume does not necessarily correspond to the number of consumers who have been de-registered or the number of debts that have left the negative register. This is because a debt can have more than one entry, since the creditor can enter the same debt in different bureaus. Thus, the same CPF may have more than one entry for the same debt.

Desenrola began operating on July 17, initially with the deregistration of debts of up to R$ 100 and the renegotiation of bank debts for individuals with an income of up to R$ 20 thousand. The third stage, which starts in September, will cover debtors with an income of up to two minimum wages or who are registered with CadÚnico (the Federal Government's Single Registry for Social Programs) and with debts of up to R$ 5,000.

“The credit bureau sector continues to support and participate in Desenrola, as well as other initiatives aimed at reducing default rates, since these actions have a positive impact on boosting the economy as a whole,” says Elias Sfeir, president of ANBC.
