De acordo com dados da ANEEL, segmento tem potencial para incluir até 76 milhões de usuários na base de dados da iniciativa.

São Paulo, 23 de fevereiro de 2024: As part of the third stage of joining the Positive Registry, the electricity sector has already included more than 70% of its consumers in the initiative's database. According to ANEEL - the National Electricity Agency, 55 million users have already benefited from this inclusion. The sector has the potential to incorporate the data of 76 million customers into the Cadastro Positivo database throughout the country.

The purpose of the Positive Registry (Law 12.414 as amended by Complementary Law 166 of 8/04/2019), which has been in force under the automatic adhesion model since July 2019, is to help assess risk when granting credit by means of positive information. In this way, creditors can have a more detailed view of the payment history of individuals and companies applying for credit, making it possible to offer more suitable credit conditions for each profile.

“The sector's adherence to the Positive Registry makes an important contribution so that individual and corporate customers of electricity utilities can have access to credit, but above all to good credit conditions, which is fundamental for society's economic development,” says Sandoval Feitosa, Director General of ANEEL.

“Thanks to its capillarity, the electricity segment is strategic for increasing Brazilians” credit visibility, promoting a series of socio-economic benefits, including a drop in defaults, improved credit recovery instruments and financial inclusion," analyzes Elias Sfeir, president of the National Association of Credit Bureaus (ANBC), the entity that represents the credit bureaus that manage the Cadastro Positivo database.

“We are grateful for ANEEL's support, as well as that of the utilities that have joined the program and the Brazilian Association of Electricity Distributors (ABRADEE), for this collective effort to democratize the benefits of the Positive Registry,” adds Sfeir.

Following the successful inclusion of data received from financial institutions, telecommunications and electricity concessionaires, the fourth phase, concerning sanitation companies, is still underway, with the potential to include up to 55 million records.
